A Personal Message from Mr Antony Faccinello,
Headteacher of Hackney New School.
Becoming a member of the Hackney New Sixth Form is a much bigger venture than merely enrolling on a set of A-level courses. You will develop significantly intellectual and emotionally in your two years of the sixth form. At Hackney New Sixth Form, you will step into a community which is more than just a provider of educational qualifications, however important that these are. We are convinced that achieving the most in life necessitates patience, vision, hard work, resilience as well as a willingness to assume responsibility, for yourself and others. We realise that without nurturing each individual’s specific skills and the talents, it is not possible to harness those qualities. This is why we have designed a curriculum that combines academic teaching in core subjects with a number of optional and extracurricular courses that will permit students to explore a wider range of subjects and interests than in conventional Sixth Form colleges.
Studying in inner London can be hectic and it is sometimes difficult to find space and time to pause and reflect. We aim to provide all of our students with an environment that stimulates academic study and physical expression through sport, music and the arts. Having a strong moral and community-based foundation is critical in a rapidly changing world. We have therefore sought to create a number of opportunities for students to share views and debate important issues in a secure and respectful setting (for instance, through our ‘Core’ programme of debate and study). This will foster a strong, mature and vibrant community at Hackney New Sixth Form.
With the help of a body of very experienced and outstanding teachers, we will prepare you for the challenges you will face in a highly competitive world. We are committing to giving you the full academic and personal support you need to achieve your objectives, and in so doing expect to provide you with an outstanding education.
We look forward to meeting you at one of our upcoming Open Days over the next academic year. You can also make an individual appointment to visit the school and we would be delighted to welcome you here.
