Parents Weekly Newsletters

HNS Parents’ Association

As children become teenagers keeping the link between home and school becomes increasingly important. An active Parents’ Association can help in this process by enabling the school to understand better what parents want to best support their child’s education.

The HNS Parents’ Association organises fundraising and social events and it helps provide the parents’ voice at open mornings and evenings for prospective pupils and their parents. It also assists the school in setting up sessions for parents on relevant topics like safety online and how to support children against drugs or gang violence.

The HNS Parents’ Association is open to all parents and carers of pupils. The committee meets every half term to discuss future events and fundraising ideas, if you would like to find out when the next meeting is please email parentsassociation@hackneynewschool.org

Communicating with the school

All parents have access to their child’s information and progress data through the school information system, Arbor.

Through Arbor, parents and carers have access to the same, current information about achievement, behaviour and attendance that teachers, students and governors have. Whether you look at it every day or every term, you can find information about your child’s life at school very easily.

We also use Arbor to communicate with parents. You can also communicate with us and keep the information we hold about you up to date.

There are training modules added to Arbor all the time to teach you how to use it. We will be running drop-in sessions at school to help you get to grips with it, check the weekly newsletter for details of these.

Arbor Username: We will have sent to you by email. If you do not have an email address, please set one up using Google Mail here.

Arbor Password: Also sent to you by email. If you have forgotten your password please click on the ‘Forgotten your password?’ link or similarly, email the school at info@hackneynewschool.org.

Google Apps for Education

All students and teachers use Google Apps for Education, a free collaborative service that allows us to work together to create, research and record. If you would like to be able to see your child’s work, you can with a Google account.

Cashless Catering

Please pay for school meals by transferring £13.75 a week to Hackney New School. Email finance@hackneynewschool.org for account details or ask in school.
