As a result of the findings of this consultation, and the progress the school is making with recruitment, admissions and building design, the Secretary of State for Education signed the Funding Agreement for HNS in February 2013. The Funding Agreement confirms the rules within which the school will operate, which are similar to those of Academies, and makes Hackney New School a school in the eyes of the law.
You can read a letter from Lord Nash, Undersecretary of State for Education, to our Chair of Governors, expressing his support for the School. In it, he writes 'The number of applications the school has received shows how much it is needed'.
